Rationale
In many developing countries,
governments are facing increasing pressure to improve the efficiency and
financial viability of the health care service delivery system,
particularly in the light of renewed commitments to improve the living
conditions of the poor. Information strategic planning and effective
utilization of resources can help in enhancing the efficiency and
financial sustainability of health care services. Moreover, the recent
health sector reforms in developing countries calls for a deeper insight
into the management of resources and generation of resources through
alternative financing mechanisms. The Institute of Health Management
Research, Jaipur has played an increasing key role in the development of
health systems and reform processes, technical assistance and capacity
building of programme managers. The course has attracted participants
from Indian and other developing countries.
Objectives
The course is offered

Participants
The course is designed for health
professionals from developing countries who have been involved in health
planning, health financing, managing and generating health resources and
those who work for ministries of health, governmental agencies, planning
agencies, implementing agencies, public health institutions,
non-governmental organisations, and voluntary agencies.

Dr. Sodani is a health economist and
public health specialist. He has obtained PhD in economics from MLS
University, Udaipur and Master of Public Health from the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA. His current areas of interest are
health economics and financing, health sector reforms, quality assurance
in health care etc. He has been associated with developing Project
Implementation Plans for State Health Systems Development and District
Action plan under NRHM for various states in India.
