In the context of
rapid technological, managerial and environmental changes, it
is imperative that practicing healthcare professionals
continuously update their knowledge base and acquire and upgrade
leadership skills to deal with the fast growing obsolescence
through continuing education. IIHMR’s Management Development Programmes
are designed to respond to these challenges and help
professionals in broadening their understanding and improving
the skills set to face the challenges at responsible positions.

The Institute has
conducted a series of programmes on leadership and management
development in health care, such as TB and Leprosy; Population and
Reproductive and Child Health; Gender; Project Planning;
Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation; Training of Trainers;
Bio-Medical Waste; Management of Hospitals and Health; Financing
Health Care; Quality Management; Rational Use of Drugs; Behaviour
Change Communication; Survey Research and Data Management
Methods; Health Sector Reforms; Quality Assurance; Health
Management Information Systems; Result Based Management;
Management of Health Programmes and NGO management.
Besides pursuing its
own training agenda, the Institute also conducts programmes
tailored to the needs and expectations of the sponsoring agencies.
Many of these programmes are conducted at the international
levels, such as Management, Finance and Logistics for TB Control
Programme at Bangkok for IULTD. Paris, Hospital Management, Health
Financing, Quality of Health Care, and Leadership for Health Care
Professionals at Kabul in partnership with IbnSina, Afghanistan;
and Health Management Information System for Ministry of Health,
Republic of Indonesia.
The programmes are
designed in the light of the diversity of managerial activity
according to the type and context of the organization in which the
participants are working. The training follows a participatory and
experimental approach through lectures, discussions and field
visits, which make the participants more effective in their jobs.
