“With clear vision and firm belief in our mission, we moved on surely and steadily”
“Yet another year of good performance has rolled by and hence another State of Institute Report. IIHMR was set up in 1984 to impact on the health delivery system in India through research, training and management education. No one was talking about health and hospital management 3 decades ago in India. So, in a way, IIHMR was a maiden venture. With clear vision and firm belief in our mission, we moved on surely and steadily. In the initial years, we created evidence through research leading to proper decisions on health issues and then forayed in to management training field. Alter over a decade of its birth, IIHMR started its AICTE approved flagship 2 years Post Graduate Diploma Programme of Health and Hospital Management. Today, IIHMR has over 1500 alumni occupying managerialpositions at various levels in all major hospitals in India and also in NRHM in the States. To cater to the increasing need for education and training, it expanded spatially by opening new campuses at Delhi and Bangalore and added new PG Diploma programmes like Pharmaceutical Management, Rural Management, and Masters in Public Health with approval from AICTE. IIHMR also created wide network of research & academic institutes interested in public health research & management and played a leading role in the formation of South East Asia Public Health institutions Network and also its Indian affiliate. We also worked with Johns Hopkins School of Public Health for research in Afghanistan at a very turbulent time in that country's history. We are also working with Global Alliance for Nutrition for fornication of food, oil and milk and marketing it in Rajasthan. IIHMR has working relationship with WHO, UNICEF, Futures group, USAID, PHFI and many other National and international organizations.
This year, we would achieve a major milestone of starting prestigious international programme of Masters In Public Health at Jaipur in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University, US. This course at Jaipur would have the same quality and rigour as that of similar course conducted by JHSPH at Baltimore. With the award of degree by JHU, this course would be open to both national and international students. IIHMR's spectacular growth over the years has been due to outstanding efforts put in by our teaching and non teaching staff, leadership of present Director, Dr S.D. Gupta and valuable support received from Members of our Governing Board and Management Board.
With availability of good infrastructure, intellectual capital built up, work processes developed and quality faculty assembled, the institute is poised for still higher growth in future. We look forward to yet another year of good performance at the Institute.”
